Greetings unto the populace of the fair Kingdom of Atlantia!

At the end of this month (September 25-27), Lochmere celebrates its Baronial Birthday and will have an Artisans Row to demonstrate various and sundry Medieval and Renaissance arts and sciences. I have been charged with organizing this activity and I invite you to consider participating!

At this event, Artisans’ Row will be a demonstration area set aside by the fighting fields during the day (10:30-4) for artisans to demonstrate and show off their work. If you have any type of project in progress that you don’t mind explaining to the populace, please consider coming by and setting up for an hour or two (or all day)! Artisans’ row is a great way to educate those who may wonder just how some things get made, done, created or otherwise brought into existence, as well as to give people a chance to try things out.

Arts and Science activities that have worked quite well in the past include the following:

All and sundry textile arts (knitting, spinning, weaving, embroidery, lacework, felting, handwork, kumihimo, etc…), woodworking, bead making (lampwork) and stringing, metalworking, cooking, calligraphy and illumination, puppet making, mask making, hair dressing, silk banner making and painting, pottery projects, kite making, coin making,  etc…

I have had folks set up a forge and do some iron mongering, blacksmithing, and armor making as well.

If you aren’t sure how to turn your art into a demonstration or hands-on activity, please feel free to contact me. I will be demonstrating some kind of cooking item myself…

Some tent space and tables are available, but if you are thinking of joining us, please email me or call so that I can make sure we have enough space and I can put you on the list and schedule.

I ask any member of the populace to please consider participating.

Thanks in advance and please do contact me !
