Scanfest is now 4 weeks away (The same weekend of Crown...so if you are not going to Crown and going to be in the Charlotte NC area..it's a great festival)....So far I have 5 people who have commited to being there. I know there are more of you.....please email me and let me know. I'm the liason between the SAGA people and the SCA and I need to know how many to expect so I can give them info for parking tokens etc. It is a fun time.

Remember Scanfest is a living history demo put on by the SCA, not so much a normal SCA demo. If you are an artisan expect to get a lot of attention from the mundanes. The real show for the past 2 years has been the artisans demonstrating their art...not so much us fighters. Since the SCA is putting on a Viking era living history exhibit, if you do not have appropriate garb, please feel free to come and enjoy the festival...just stay in mundane clothes. If you have period seating and tables...please bring them. Fighting will be limited to Vikig era weapons... Armor should be as close to early period (Viking era) as possible, although early period helm types are not required

SCA Living history particpants are considered volunteers, and as such entry for us is free.

Also...SAGA has asked us (The SCA) to run the 2nd annual Kubb Tournament of the Carolinas. If you remember the 1st Kubb Championships of the Carolinas was hosted by SAGA in Salisbury last year, and was won by a 2 person team from the Dark Lady. Lord William of Scarbough and Lord Richard the Bear having won last year are the current Kubb Champions of North and South Carolina. This year SAGA is holding it at Scanfest. Due to space (a single court) and time constrants the tournament will be of the single elemination type and can not really consist more than 8 teams. The Kubb of the Carolina's championship will consist of 3 person teams. Cost per person to compete is $5.00 per person, or $15.00 per team (money goes to SAGA not the SCA). The 8 teams will be determined on a 1st come first serve basis...so if you want to compete, you need to get me the name of your team and members as soon as possible (before the competition slots are all filled up) as I am in charge of team pre-registration for the tournament. Entry cost for pre-registered teams will be made at Scanfest. As last year, the winning team will get trophies.

For those of you who do not know what Kubb is:
