Went to my very first WoW this past weekend and it was awesome. October's kind of tough for me, but I'm going to make an effort to work things so I can become a regular at this event. It was great! Even the husband, who never plays, mentioned he'd like to give it a go next time, and that is saying something.
We went to Pirate's Cove in garb friday night, and were approached by a lovely couple who wanted to know how to get in touch with the society, as they were very interested in checking us out. I onced again scribbled out the appropriate contact info, including my own, to give them.
The next night, it happened again to the d'Orleans while they were out in garb.
So, my question is: Do we have cards to give folks? If so, how can we get some? If not, may I make some for us all to print out and use? I'd love to be able to hand people something professional looking and not my bad handwriting on a scrap of paper out of Elphin's pocket, for instance.
Now, in no particular order and with the understanding that this is not an exhaustive list:
WALTER: It was great meeting youi in person, finally! Thanks for the gift, my little one LOVES the Whacky Whackers.
HIDDEN MOUNTAIN: I feel bad we couldn't take you up on your very tempting offer of S'Mores around your fire. Believe me, I would have loved to have joined you. However, we were playing over at Claybaby, and had a bit of an audience, plus folks coming to sit in, and it just would have been awkward if not impossible to gracefully get away and move. Plus there was the infuriating problem of my mandolin going out of tune every single time I moved it. So please accept our apologies and please also let us take a rain check.
TOUCH THE EARTH GUYS: You guys were amazing. Wow. Loved hearing you play, and loved it when one of you came over to jam with us a bit. I don't think I ever enjoyed Blackleg Miner and Fighting For Strangers so well as how it sounded when you played along.
YOUNG PEOPLE SINGING: When Vincent heard you all singing The Garden Gate, it made his day. I am sorry I missed that, but I didn't miss how happy my friend was. :-)
MARIE HELENE AND WILHELM: Not suprisingly, you were hospitable and kind neighbors and we enjoyed your company. Thanks. :-)
EMERIS: Thanks for Harris And The Mare. I love the way you do that song.
PINK UNICORN: You should have seen my daughter's face when she saw the pictures.
Also, would like to re-iterate that we'd love to have other musicians join us. Even if you think you aren't that good (cuz I hear that alot from people). We don't care, we will work with your skill level. None of us are pros and all of us had to start somewhere. Our female voices outnumber our male voices, so male voices are of particular value to us. However, women who want to sing with us are welcome as well. If you play an instrument, that's even better.
Well, enough rambling from me. It was a fun weekend, all. :-)
Dulcy
