ANother excellent cure is Murphy's Oil Soap.  Just use it as you would your
laundry detergent.  It gets "Tom" scent out quite well.
One word of advice - DO NOT DRY CLEAN the item that has been marked!!  It
will 'set' the odor so that anytime the garment or item gets wet it will
smell like cat urine.  Discovered that the hard (and $$$) way with a
velveteen cloak many years ago.
ALso - the sooner you can launder the item the easier the scent is removed.


For those who worry - Murphy's Oil Soap is gentle enough to use on any
fabric - no harsh chemicals like Woolite.  I learned this tip from a fellow
SCAdian who used it on her good wools, silks, linens, velvets, etc.
