[MR] Boo Boo Juice

if you dont have ice then just apply pressure with the palm of your hand or,
better, with a washcloth folded in half. this will help keep the edema down
and will also help the internal bleeding stop. once the bleeding stops
there is little you can do to minimize the visual effect as the leaking
blood is already in the surrounding cells. dont push so hard that it hurts
a lot more as that will only make the edema worsen but moderate steady
pressure. ;^)

Thank you, all ~

I received more information than I ever thought I needed.

While ice is ingestible and externally applicable, it seems fairly
safe  <winks>  and may help with the hurting portion, if I can apply it soon
enough after the blow.  Sometimes ice is not readily accessible on the field
or in camp (will have to work on that).  I am not likely to disrobe at the
Chirurgeon's tent just for bruising.

As far as the bruises go, except for the hurt, the discoloration doesn't
bother me, they just raised all sort of eyebrows in dance class.  My
students even noticed them through the dark tights.  For me, the lack of
bruises after a battle indicates how muchI am improving-- always a good
sign.

Thank you again, all.  Hopefully, others will benefit from your responses.

Graciously,
Alexandra
