I don't know about comfrey but tea tree and lavender do help speed up the healing process of minor skin irritations, cuts and bruises.
Whenever I get a cut, I put a little lavender on it and it speeds up the healing noticeably.
Lavender is the only essential oil I know of that can be used directly on the skin. Most need help delivering to the skin (ie put into any kind of lotion etc.)
I don't recommend them as a substitute for a severe allergic reaction but for minor cuts, rashes and bruises they help speed up the healing process.
I've had no first hand experience with comfrey - only tea tree and lavender. I dislike the tea tree scent so I use the lavender.
