and they do what?  i mean, soaking in pickle juice or kerosene will result
in absorption into the skin.  if the question is how to get rid of the
discoloration of a bruise the only thing that can be done is to prevent the
blood from leaking into the surrounding tissue.  ice and pressure.
medically speaking what does tea tree, lavender, comfrey, etc do?

 Many of these bruise bump creams have comfrey or bone set in them.For sore
muscles or tendon tears you can soak in a bath with comfrey and eucalyptus
which both absorb into skin.
