Painted Wheel doesn't really have one.
What we do is talk among ourselves about who we want to have our eye on as far as who will be a good fit to the group, people who we pretty much consider to be "family" regardless of their status, etc. We are, before anything else, a gathering of friends.
So what we do, before a person gets in, is basically talk about them behind their back. ;-) Someone will say, "Hey, so, when are we giving a Wheel to so and so?" And we'll have a discussion about it. We then decide when we are going to present their Wheel medallion to them, and that is usually the first event or gathering we can think of where the most of us will be present at one time.
Also, this is important: we kind of try to gauge how receptive they will be before we present them the thing in front of everyone. We don't want to put anyone on the spot. I'd hate to put them in a position to have to decline in front of the entire group. In some cases, I've flat out asked, in a private setting.
The presentation is casual. I give them their medallions and the gathered group does the hug thing and welcomes them into the group. The obligatory jokes about now being lowlifes are trotted out. :-DDD
