[MR] WoW points

I think you explained it dead on Larry. I think what people are picking up
on a brief review of how the points broke down is that Black Diamond walked
all over Sacred Stone in many of the areas that required skill, however
Sacred Stone was able to take the day because they were able to pick up many
of the points that were based on how many people they could get to show up.

However, while I don't recall the numbers that Gise posted, I don't know
that the '200 fighters' included all the cavalry, combat archers, siege
engineers, youth combatants, archers & thrown weapons (who don't sign in
with an MoL), and of course artisans who competed in the war. So if you
take those numbers into account I think you will find that a much larger
portion of the attendees were able to participate in the war than may be
perceived at first glance.

Non-fighter war points is always a delicate area to try to balance out when
it comes to determining war points. As has been pointed out you don't want
the points to be a 'popularity' competition but to be an actual competition.
It is something that WoW has been struggling with from day 1. For example
the first year we had a full out A&S competition. Even with strict rules
regarding documentation and how old a project could be - we had so many
entries that the judges were there all day - I think their brains were mush
by the end of it - and the tallying of points took so long that court was
held up waiting for them to finish. So we adjusted it the next year to the
number of projects, within a certain time frame, with documentation. Back
to 'who can bring more' but we were trying to figure out how to best balance
out our volunteer's time, the pace of the event, and fairness to the
competitors.

If people have suggestions on a good way to make it fair all the way around
I have no doubt that Lady Murienne would be thrilled with any suggestions.
But to include 'non-competitors' in a competition is difficult. If you
truly want to compete and 'fight' for your side - please learn a martial art
(there is tons to do outside of just heavy fighting!) or pay special
attention to the artisan competitions and compete in those arenas.
