[MR] WoW points

Wow...never thought this of all things would become a big deal. Hello,
everyone, I'm your volunteer co-ordinator from WOW IV...maybe I can explain
how the volunteer point worked and how it was originally intended. As the
lovely Muireanne pointed out it was originally intended to be a point that
anyone could earn. There are many among us who don't fight or shoot or what
have you and there are also a number of newcomers every year who might not
have the gear to participate fully yet, but would want to participate in
some way. Firstly, I would like to assure everyone that no staff division
leader counted toward this war point as far as I know (and if anyone would
it would be me). Who did then you ask? Well, your waterbearers, heralds, A &
S judges were among them. Each was given a ticket for each hour served
(waterbearers got double points...). I had many folks from both sides turn
in tickets...it could have *very* easily been a close call and for a
majority of the day I truly thought Black Diamond was in the lead, but I had
at least one waterbearer who'd worked all day come at the last moment and
pledge for Sacred Stone. Those double points add up fast when you work a six
or seven hour shift. Now, could we improve how this was done? Sure!
Absolutely! For one I'd like to see it better advertised (hey...even if it
is wounding my little ego this thread is ensuring that everyone knows
volunteer point exists next year.)...the lack of advertising does indeed
fall on my head. My bad. No excuses. For another I'd like to see more folks
who volunteered their time get their points. From my personal standpoint (in
no way does my view reflect anyone else), I'd like to see our marshals,
MOLs, and other folks who work their rears off all day (and therefore don't
get to fight or shoot or perform or whatever else they might do for a war
point) get points to go toward the volunteer war point. Let's face it folks,
events like this don't happen with out the blood, sweat, and tears of folks
who (again...in my humble opinon) deserve a chance to show support for their
barony in the same way our fighters, archers, and A & S folks do.
Anyway...this particular war point came from a good and well meaning
place...it's an idea still in evolution.

Anyway...my two cents...
