[MR] WoW points

Shameless plug your Grace, but a good one at that..!!

I like that idea of a drawing for volunteers who help out at an event.  I won a prize once like that and loved it.  It does make for a nice surprise to have small tokens or rewards to let volunteers know they make a difference.  It does not replace a "thank-you", but becomes a nice memory to an already good event.

sorry, i misunderstood those points and thought (incorrectly) that they
referred to those volunteering to make the event happen and not those
offering after arriving.  still, given that the event is held in the center
of the more populated of the principal baronies i would ask how those points
have turned out?  clearly folks should be encouraged to volunteer to help
out at events.  also, how much is really needed at this particular event?  i
understand how much work something like pennsic calls for (or even something
smaller like gulf wars).  but those events are 13,000 people for two weeks
and 6,000 people for one week.  wow is 900 people for two days.  i
personally dont think a "point" should be given for this and would rather
see something more like part of the budget being spent on a nice prize for a
volunteers name drawn at random.  i hear one of those gift certificates from
ebonwoulfe armory are hot around the holiday season!!  ;^)

i just have concerns when we "reward" one of the principal baronies for
populated aspects of an event when the event itself is held so far away from
the other baronys population centers and so close to the hosting baronies
center.  but thats only my concern.

As the event steward for next year's War of the Wings, I can tell you
that I am taking ALL of the comments and concerns very seriously, and
war points is something that we will be looking at very closely.

That being said, getting rid of the volunteering war point is
troubling to me. And before anyone gets all riled up let me explain
why.
I don't care where you are from north, south, east, or west, BD or SS,
close to site or far away, you can donate some of your time. We had
people volunteering from all over the kingdom! For some people it is
the only way that they can really feel like they are a part of the
war, anf making a difference fior their side. There are other points
that we will look at whether the need to be included this next year,
and also the amount of points per activity will be discussed.

I honestly think that the main problem with the points is advertising.
If people know about something in advance then they can plan to
participate. The plan for this coming year will be to post on the
lists and on the website (in a place easy to find) a full list of War
Points. Whatever those points may be.

As I posted in my previous post, input is good. The ideas, comments
(kindly worded please), concerns of the populace is what is needed to
make this already great event even better.
So please keep talking, send me your ideas, but do me a huge personal
favor....
Be nice to each other, nothing about this event is sooo important that
anyone should get angry about comments that are made to try and make
the event better.
