oops, i was reminded that it was 31 seconds. the original time was claimed
to be 35 seconds but lord sanuooke saw that daemon and i entered the fort a
few seconds before i yelled time. the marshal inside the fort wasnt looking
anywhere except the front doorway which, according to baron axels post, was
the doorway in most peoples minds. when the rules were explained for the
scenario i asked specifically if we could enter the doorways or windows. i
was told no windows, so i asked if any doorway would be fine and was told
"yes". i thought that was a bit difficult given the small numbers of
fighters and the two large openings but figured i would come up with
something to work within those rules. i never considered the front doorway
and apparently neither did the marshal with the stopwatch as he was a bit
jolted when i yelled "time" from behind him. poor fella jumped about 10
inches in the air. 8^O

41 seconds!!!! Incredible!!!! Are you sure the guy on the stop watch knew it
ended??? Seemed shorter than that. Your Grace you are truly a master
strategist. I wanted to do it again and again and again.....
That was insane cool!!!

Just a couple of thing I wanted to respond to, your grace.
My five year old son was one of the trick or treaters this weekend. I
happened to be sitting next door at Baron Matthew's list sahde when he came
up to you. The little wooden horse he recieved absolutely made his day. I
would like to thank you for that as it made my son very happy.
The fort battle: I'm one of the newest heavy fighters in the kingdom. This
years WoW was my first chance to experience large scale melee combat and
witness the force of our armies in action. I must say, that it was all i
could of hoped for and more. It was a blast. And your strategy for the Fort
Battle was great. And for the 41 seconds it took to take the fort, I must
say that as a member of the mass of the army who was charging at Sir
Gunther's side, it was the best 41 seconds of a very fine day.
Thank you

matter what the event) but i do have to ask if perhaps next year the
attendance, volunteering, and youth participation war points be dropped.
just doesnt seem equitable to score "war points" based on where the adults
and children live that attend the event when the event is held in the center
of one of the principal baronies. given the geography and population mass of
black diamond this just doesnt seem like a fair scale. the volunteering
points im unsure of since you should be able to get plenty of folks from the
non-hosting barony to assist but many of the jobs that go along with an
event of this size are difficult to do from afar. anyway, its just an
observation.
>
> aside from that i wanted to throw a few thank yous out there myself since
this was the first event that ive been able to take the field since my
series of injuries back at the first of the year.
>
> the layout of the camps was much improved and this made it much easier to
navigate around site even though i know i crossed through two camps not
realizing i was doing so until i was half way there. folks were very kind
when i realized what i was doing and they let me finish my journey, still it
was awkward and im sure i wasnt the only one that accidently intruded.
>
> sanuooke who did a good job of handling the safety issues of the field
layout and its proximity to the viewing pavilions on the field. as it was
originally laid out there would be no way to have siege or combat archery on
the field. in the end adjustments were made so that they could be included
without too much worry and things were handled well with the safety of those
watching kept in mind.
>
> baron rousel for trusting me to lead "his army" even though my ability to
participate was so questionable. on that note, ive lead many versions of
atlantias armies from small units to her entire force. this was the first
time in nearly two decades in which plans were given to our troops and those
plans were followed almost exactly. sir gunther did an outstanding job
leading the other half of black diamonds forces for me during the fort
battle which allowed us a final victory time of 41 seconds. far better than
the 1:20 that i had promised his excellency and the troops. dukes cuan and
valharic led the charge on the top that allowed my unit to scrum sir daemon
into the fort untouched. i was very proud of the job our guys did all day
(well, i wasnt in the woods but i heard good things).
>
> martially its not all one sided and the bad guys deserve some credit as
well. ;^) his excellency axels troops fought hard and well. i witnessed a
lot of newer faces making some very smart reads on the field and i saw a lot
of brave hearts that remained unflinching even when pressed. several spear
fighters come to mind during the regicide battle when time and time again
our higher skilled cav unit pressed them at the top of the hill. some of the
best fighters in the world would have given ground when a press was being
made upon them by duke cuan, duke valharic, count jason, sir kael, sir
grimr, sir theron, sir william thomas, lord felix, al atan, and myself. ok,
so maybe not so much my man at arms al atan....... HOWEVER that is a
collection of fighters that would make much more battle hardened men give
ground. yet, these fools.... er... warriors stood their ground and fought us
bravely. so much so that we only got to his excellency one time while we
were all attacking together. that was inspiring even if my belly is still
sore from a couple of well placed spear thrusts! as an army we still have a
lot of room for improvement but im confident that our fighting spirit is
once again on the rise and i look forward to seeing even more of our newer
fighters taking leadership roles in the upcoming campaigns. his majesty
should feel a lot of confidence in us and i see a lot of dedicated eyes and
hearts on the field. i was inspired (and very sore) during the entire day.
>
> to the autocrat and her entire staff, there is still a lot of improvement
to be made for this event (as there is for any event of this size still in
its infancy). however, if there were any hiccups they were well hidden. the
only way to "hide" unforeseen issues is by handling them with concern and
diligence. this takes dedicated service from a caring staff and i think this
event displayed that. great work guys, you have earned a round of applause
and thanks from those of us you served with your hard works. thank you all.
>
> i also wanted to mention how welcoming and generous so many of you all
were as the event switched over to an old fashion "block party" atmosphere
on saturday night. i personally spent time in several camps saturday night
and every one of them was inviting and hospitable. there was a little
something for everyone from the bardic camps to those simply playing host to
any guests that stopped by. of note, sir william thomas and his camp put on
a very impressive display during and after their squiring ceremony. the
ceremony itself was beautiful and the generosity of his camp was
exceptional. tastefully done and an inspiration to everyone who attended.
>
> to those who were involved in the memorial ceremony on saturday night, i
offer you my deepest thanks. two members of clan ebonwoulfe were lost to us
this year. duchess arielle, matriarch of house ebonwoulfe, and lord eogan,
my grandsquire and member of house tavernier (squire to baron rousel) were
much loved by so many people and touched so many lives. this world is
scarred by their passing but our lives were made better by them in their
time. i know that both duke valharic and lady soarcha were able to find some
small comfort in knowing that we all feel pain and the honor showed for both
arielle and eogan touched them. i offer my personal thanks to the greys for
their kind efforts.
>
>
> i would like to mention to those responsible for absconding with the black
diamond banners and shield, while im sure your intention was to play a
"practical joke" by placing the shield and banners in and around a
port-a-john the end result was disrespectful and in poor taste. no matter
the intent of your actions you showed disrespect. please try to think about
the effects of your actions in the future. stealing someones property is
never funny. you should be ashamed and you should offer your apologize to
those you hurt.
>
> countess esa and i would finally like to thank all of the children who
stopped by to see us while trick or treating. the children that we saw were
all very well mannered and the smiles on their faces were delightful. if
only we had more gifts to give them!!

that you were missed and that you missed out. hopefully we will see you next
year!

for clean up and Lady Catrine St. Loe my list field steward who exhibited
grace in the face of discourtesy.
