M'lady Genevieve,

Don't know why it is pink, but that is apparently the original shade: 
Here are some additional sites about Craigievar Castle, with more 
photos. I like the part about all the Forbes going in by the doors, but 
eventually leaving by the windows because the stairway was too narrow 
for a casket. Sadly none of the sites have much history. I supposed 
somebody has written about book about it. Somewhere.

The castle is sure to be covered in  THE CASTELLATED AND DOMESTIC 
ARCHITECTURE OF SCOTLAND, FROM THE TWELFTH TO EIGHTEENTH CENTURY by 
David MacGibbon and Thomas Ross (1887) which can be found at

Unfortunately, I'm at work, and can't take time to search this huge 
database.
