I would like to add that in addition to the four month reigns of the
Crown in the West the three Principalities of the West; Mists,
Cynagua, and Oertha, have six month reigns.  In many cases this is a
learning ground for those who then go on to win Crown, although not
every reigning couple wins the Principality Coronet Tourneys and it is
not a requirement.

I personally do prefer a four month reign and a shorter period as
crown prince/princess in the West, you see fewer cases of burnout and
it offers more opportunities for fresh faces in the "seat of power".
