[MR] Length of term for Atlantian royalty

Milady, you will get many answers to this question, because there are
many good reasons.

1. Allowing more people to try being King/Queen. Or to at least try to
get to that point. There are some who have been King/Queen many many
times over (even beyond the two times that gives the rank of
Duke/Duchess) but there have still been a lot of people who've had the
opportunity. That number would be cut in half if a term was a full
year.

2. They spend almost an entire reign (minus one-two months) as Heirs
(Prince/Princess). This gives them time to learn the ropes and get
used to the idea of being Royalty. It also allows them time to set the
wheels in motion to meet their goals.

3. Cost and time commitment. This should probably be number 1. I have
heard that a typical 6 month reign can cost anywhere between
$10000-20000 dollars. Travel, lodging, giving up their weekends that
they go to events to represent the kingdom are all very time, energy,
and resource consuming. And that's only events. There's also the time
spent behind the scenes - deciding who deserves to get awards, putting
out fires, dealing with baronial pollings (who will be the next
Baron/Baroness of a group - it's not a simple numbers vote), dealing
with kingdom officers and kingdom law...

It's a very busy job. Very rewarding too, I'm told, and absolutely
worth it, but 6 months as heir and 6 months as royal seems to be about
the right length of time.
