I was about to say something very similar, only I was beat to it.
I would find a handicap mid fight insulting, now if the first fight
was totally one-sided, I have handicapped myself (without telling the
other player..... OK it was a video game but I think the principle is
the same), it made it more fun for me, they actually won, (but it was
close!) but they were disheartened when they found out I had turned on
a handicap on myself, as they felt it lessened their win, since they
didn't have the same handicap. I think a similar situation would be a
better fighter starting the fight with a missing leg or arm. harder on
the better fighter, but it might make the fight more even (or however
you handicap a fight).
