[MR] Documents Catalog--Sotheby's -- Fwd: sca-east Digest, Vol 82, Issue 69

For those folks who are not familiar with the cataloogue's from the better
auction houses - they are worth their weight in gold as far as being good
visual records of the pieces in the auction.  Generally trhere is a decent
description of the piece with those oh-so-valuable dates, origins, etc.
included.  They are similar to museum exhibition catalogues and in the
antiques field often used as pricing guides for future purchases.  Anyone
can purchase a copy of the auction catalogues.  Prices vary but again, like
reference books - they have considerable value beyond that purchase price.

Chagan - who learned this from many antiques collectors over the decades.
