[MR] Unevent, Vacations, and Mining... partly OT

So, it turns out I successfully planned my vacation time to coincide
with the week before Unevent. Unevent helpfully is located in the
Winston-Salem area, roughly. Not too far from Winston-Salem is a
public mine - Emerald Hollow Mine -

spend a few days playing in the dirt and looking for sparkly objects.

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Also, is
anyone interested in making a "field trip" of it and joining us?

Is there anyone from the Hiddenite, NC area that wouldn't mind
chatting about the area some?
