A Memorial Service for Brigit will be held Sunday, November 8th at 2:00pm at KnightsvilleBaptistChurch, 1970 Central Ave., in Summerville. Please forgive me for taking so long to post this. I realize that this is short notice for anyone outside the local area but I have had a very difficult time getting the name of the church where it is being held to say nothing of directions to this church. Google gave me 3 disparate locations for the same address and calls to numbers on the church's web page produced 2 separate sets of directions, neither of which matched the maps generated by Google or Bing. I have, however, just returned from running the route myself, so I know that these directions are accurate.
To get to the church turn off I-26 at exit 199A onto 17-A. Follow this into Summerville. You will pass through a suburban commercial area, downtown Summerville, and a residential area on a road that goes from being straight and 4 lanes to one that is 2 very curvy lanes. Don't worry, you have NOT missed it, just stay on 17-A. You will go through 10 stoplights, the 11th stoplight is 5 points. Go on through and stay on 17-A. A little past 5 points 17-A makes a sharp turn to the right, stay on it. From I-26 to this turn is around 3.3 miles. Go approximately 3.9 milesfarther on 17-A. (During this stretch you will pass SummervilleHigh Schoolon the left and a very large white plantation type house on the right. Keep on going on 17-A.) At around the 3.9 milemark, you will come to a small green store on the right, it is called Midlands Feed & Seed. Turn right onto the road there, This is (finally) Central Ave.Go 1.7 miles on this road. You will go around
a curve and the church is on your left behind a long white picket fence.
I am sorry if this seems circuitous. As anyone who knows Summerville is aware street signs are few, far between, and small. I chose the route that I felt would be the easiest to follow for someone not familiar with the area. The phone numbers of the church are 843-851-9001 and 843-607-3551. Again I am sorry I could not have had this to you sooner. A memorial at an upcoming event is possibly being planned.
