On behalf of Lady Swannoc Beag, Highland Foorde Bardic Champion,

Greetings unto all bards and lovers of the Muse! May I please remind all
that the Barony of Highland Foorde will host the Highland River Melees
on Saturday the 6th of June in Hagerstown MD (details in May 2009
Acorn). May it give increase to your joy to know that our barony, while
hosting this great gathering of warriors, does crave the presence of
bards and entertainers of every stripe. To this end shall we have
several bardic activities.

Throughout the day, there will be the Hire-A-Bard fundraiser: for a
nominal donation, a bard will deliver a poem, song, or other message to
a designated recipient. Silliness or gushing sentimentality encouraged.
Bards who wish to participate should please contact me.

A bardic circle will be held after feast. Bardic challenges will also be
held at this time. Since our baronial investiture will occur at this
event, we will be graced by the presence of their majesties, King Logan
and Queen Esa.

(1) In honor of the King, a challenge has been posed for bardic
performances meant to inspire warriors heading to battle.
(2) In honor of the Queen, a challenge has been posed for bardic
performances linked to the noble pursuit of hunting; mention of hounds
would be much prized.
(3) The Poeta Atlantiae has posed a challenge for the Welsh poetry known
as englyn milwr. These are soldier's poems of three stanzas, seven
syllables each, each line rhyming. There is no meter to follow. The poem
may also consist of several groups of the three stanzas. If you desire
examples or further information, please contact me.
Sign-up for the challenges with be at the event, and
all questions about bardic activities may come directly to me at
derweasel at webtv.net

Please feel free to cross-post this notice as you may wish. As always,
if you have any questions, you will find me your eager servant.

YIS,
Swannoc Beag

(Lady Margaret)
