Sapphire Joust: Medieval Romance Competition

Tell us a tale of knights and ladies, daring and magic - in verse!  Poeta Atlantiae is sponsoring a competition with the theme of the medieval romance.  You may retell an existing tale, extend a known tale with a "recently found" fragment containing a brief episode, or write something wholly new.  The prize is a reproduction Norman brooch from Raymond's Quiet Press, suitable for would-be Maries de France or Chrétiens de Troyes.

Highland River Melees: Englyn Milwr Challenge

Poeta Atlantiae will take part in the sponsored bardic challenges at Highland River Melees.  As it is a challenge, not a competition, all entrants will receive a token.  In keeping with the Welsh and warrior themes of the day, all are hereby challenged to present an englyn milwr:

This is a verse form for me!
Of lines, there only are three.
Meter is totally free.

Each line must have seven beats.
End rhyme will make it quite neat.
Englyn milwr, short and sweet!

It is known as soldier's rhyme -
Themes of war are quite sublime.
