Did the list of combatants at the ourney change at all from the list sent
out a few weeks ago? Additions? Subtractions?

I am once again sponsoring the Roll of Arms competition at Crown Tourney.

What is a Roll of Arms, you ask? The online Encyclopedia Brittannica
defines a Roll of Arms as "(an) illuminated manuscript describing
(blazoning) and often illustrating (emblazoning) the arms of persons present
at a particular battle or tournament."

The rules for the competition are simple. Using the registered heraldry for
the combatants, prepare a manuscript depicting the entrants to Their
Majesties' Crown Tournament, with the final pairing and the eventual winner
denoted. For example, your page might contain 14 small escutcheons of all
the entrants by rank, then 2 larger escutcheons of the finalists, with one
even larger escutcheon of the winner, listing the names under each
depiction. Illuminated poems or songs depicting the tourney progression are
also viable as entries. (See Count Sinclair's entry from last Crown at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/8407825@N02/sets/72157611423935608/ ) Foreign
language poems/songs require an accompanying translation.

For visual examples, please see the following links of historic Rolls of
Arms and past winners of the Atlantian Roll of Arms Competition:

A final list of entrants can be obtained at Crown Tourney, and will also be
posted to the Merry Rose immediately following the event. NOTE! The list
of entrants can, and often does, change on the day of the Tourney, so I
would recommend waiting until after the Tourney is begun to obtain your
list. Those interested in entering the competition will have until June 1st
to send me their entries. Entries should be prepared on appropriate 11x14
scribal mediums (suitable for inclusion in the official Roll of Arms book).

The winner receives a nifty prize from me, and their entry is placed in the
official Roll of Arms Book of Atlantia. Second place entry is given to the
victors of Crown Tourney, Their Royal Highnesses.

All entries are to be mailed to my office address for arrival NLT June 1st.
Send your entry to:
