Please excuse the off-topic nature, but if anyone is interested in a piano, I have one that I need to be rid of in 3 weeks.
The piano is a 1919 Kimball upright grand piano. It has all the keys, the pin board is tight and will hold a tune surprisingly well. (We moved it three times since its last tuning and it's still relatively in tune.) It's got a beautiful mellow voice, a nice deep base, and the keybed is in great shape.
It's currently located in Durham, less than a mile from I-40, and has no stairs to be moved over.
It does need tuning, and if you're looking for something with concert-level sensitivity, it needs the felts replaced in some of the keys (a very cheap do-it-yourself job, which I can show you how to do), and it would be a good idea to reshape some of the hammers, (again, do-it-your-self with some fine grit sandpaper). The wood cabinet does need some restoration work done to make it a show piece, but nothing that affects the workings of the piano itself as an instrument. It's a beautiful old piano, and is eminently playable as is.
The piano itself is really rather cool, with the original leather ties on the hammers, and wooden bars for the pedals. The sound board is cast iron, so that it has no chance of warp and is not sensitive to weather shifts or strong temperature changes. I'm only getting rid of it to make room for my baby grand. It would be a phenomenal piano for someone to learn on, or for home playing, but if you know a church or other facility that could use one, it would work for that as well.
The Catch: You have to come move it yourself. If you're interested, please let me know as soon as possible. This is operating on first-come-with-a-truck, first-to-get-piano basis.
Thanks for your patience,
Livia Z.
