[MR] help with tallow candels

If you're just looking for how to make it (that is, not searching for documentation) then here's an article:
http://candleandsoap.about.com/od/soapmakingoils/ss/rendertallow.htm

I've got another article about it somewhere, but I don't remember where...I know that doesn't help you, sorry. But what I do remember about the article is that it was cooked outdoors and was rendered several times before the tallow was pure enough for candles. I *think* I remember reading that it should be clear, which would turn pure white when it cools. But it was *strongly* recommended to do your heating & rendering outdoors, due to the odor. I wouldn't be surprised if outdoors is also a safety measure, since flashing is certainly a possibility if it gets too hot.

Hope this helps.

I'll have to go through my paper copies but if you can find a local license of EEBO - Early English Books Online (usually at a university library - in WH area Duke University has it) , you should find something.

If I can find the correct period spelling for tallow (I thought it was tallaght but I'm not finding anything), that might help surfing the internet.
