izens of the Merry Rose, greetings and wishes for warm fires and hot tea (o=
r whatever).
My father sojourns within the lands of Atlantia. He is soundly a member of =
the rather dour Kingdom of Mundania, but in February will enter Meridies in=
order to grant my hand in marriage to my chosen lord. Since the garb of Mu=
ndania is strange to those of the Known World, he seeks to make the appeara=
nce of the wedding smooth wearing such garb as will better allow him to fit=
in. I have directed him to Drea Leed's excellent compendium of advice to g=
uide him in his selection, but he requests further aid.
He wishes to rent garb for the weekend of Feb 22nd of this year, and is in =
the Greensboro, NC area. He's currently working on an engineering contract =
in the area, and with a weekend commute back to the Nashville, TN area has =
no time to spend shopping for a place to rent good garb. I would appreciate=
if some SCA member in the area could point him to a good costume shop wher=
e he could rent a respectable costume for the years 1500-1600. IMNHSO, he'd=
look great as a late period Spaniard, but his upper-middle-class-Venezuela=
n upbringing might protest looking like a Spaniard. I'm not sure, but it's =
worth a try. Also acceptable is garb of the first half of the 1500s, but I'=
m wearing full-bore late Elizabethan, and he'll be escorting me in, so earl=
ier than that would look off.
I can be contacted at margaret at easaraigh.org. I'll be happy to pass any inf=
ormation along to him. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
With my thanks,
Margaret Northwode
