Greetings from the head cook for Kingdom Archery Championship!
I hope that everyone that ate feast last Saturday at KAC enjoyed it as
much as they said they did. Personally, the biggest compliment I
received was that children actually came up and asked for seconds of the
asparagus! Baron Talorgen did an excellent job with it. Milady Flavia
had the other big hit with her dessert of Strawberry and Cream Cheese
Wontons. I think people would have eaten them all night if we'd have
let them.
I had an excellent, if small, staff and I'd like to thank them at this
time. Baron Aiulf helped with the preparations for feast on Friday
night as well as helping in the heat at the event when he wasn't
participating in the shoot and didn't leave site until all the dishes
were cleaned and our truck was packed and ready to go. Flavia helped
out both times as well including coming up with two of the dishes served
and the cleanup with Aiulf. Lady Aine A'Grian couldn't get enough of
kitchen type work, so when she finished serving up an excellent
sideboard for lunch, she came straight over and started working with us
for the feast. She also stayed behind for awhile to help with cleanup.
Elizabeth Hansler followed Aine's lead and after helping Aine with
dayboard, came over and helped some with feast and helped with clearing
the table and putting away food. I'd also like to thank my daughter
Brynna (Elizabeth of Roanwoulfe) for helping roll all those stuffed
chicken breasts. Being confined to a wheelchair while her ankle heals,
she wasn't able to come to the event and help, which was her original
plan, but she was determined to put some effort into helping with the
feast. Several others came in and spent some time helping with cleanup,
but I was unfortunately so toasted by then, I either didn't get their
names or I have unfortunately forgotten them. I sincerely apologize for
this slight. A big thank you goes out to Baron Talorgen, who always
helps from the minute my hand raises to commit to a feast until the last
dish and spice is put away. I may be able to do a feast without you,
but I'd hate to try. I have become far too used to all your help.
Lastly, I'd like to thank my husband, Sir Bryan of Sacred Stone. He may
not be a cook and you may not see him in the kitchen, but he helps with
every feast as well. From making grocery store runs with or for me, to
reminding me along the way of things I need to do, all the way to
helping load the truck to go and unload the truck when we get home, he's
always involved. I love you and appreciate all you do for me.
Thanks, again, everyone from a tired but happy cook!
