This is a bit of a blast from my past, not one of my more pleasant SCA
memories but you can't beat the area for wines, and the feel of the past.

Have to say I'm surprised to see this in this list but not displeased,
brings back mundane memories that are alot more pleasant.  Like running on
the fields the ancient Olympians used, or seeing Heidelberg Castle lit with
fireworks to look like it's on fire again, doing wine tasting, Plays in
London, Chess In Paris in a cafe, Getting lost in Venice, Roma you know what
they say "Everything is better in Roma!"

I was going gees that shire has a great back drop, with those mountains and
the stonework.... it's not surprising given it's location!  Makes me want to
go to a wine fest.  If you've never been they work like this, the Vinters in
the town/area get together and have wine tasting using what is basically an
acid etched shot glass, with usually a picture scene and the town name
(sometimes a year if I remember right) you put down a deposit and go from
booth to booth trying out the different wines that were made that year and
then buying some of the ones you found you liked.  At the end of the day you
can turn in your glass for your deposit or just keep it and go home with it.

Perhaps we could do something similar?  without the selling of course, and
of course unofficially, wouldn't want to get the SCA in trouble.  Each
Brewer could do a batch or 2 with some brought out for an A&S competion,
with the tasting open to the legal public, perhaps with grading cards to
give back feedback like too dry or too sweet or what ever (I'm no wine
expert and will never pretend to be), and give a little old world (not sure
on when Wine Fests started) along with a chance for Advancement in the
guild?

I really should consider joining the Brewer's guild list for Ideas like
that, perhaps a Brewer if they like the idea could repost it tot he
approriate list?
