Good morning to all those in the tavern! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend wherever you spent it.

I was privileged to be event steward for the Kingdom Archery Championship this weekend. I would like to publicly acknowledge a marvelous thing that was given to me there ... the companionship of 97 of the most amazing people. Wherever you were, whatever you did, I assure you that it would be difficult to surpass the experiences I had. The bardic circle was
something different then I've ever seen before. It was perhaps the most
intimate such circle I've ever been in and it is a memory I will long cherish.

Baron Jonathas put together an archery shoot that many called evil. People moved from one shoot to the next, laughing, chatting, congratulating and ribbing each other over the skills evident at each station. Jonathas' guidance and support made this event an easy one to coordinate. His lady wife Amalia put together a beautiful and informationally-packed booklet to explain the shoots, some history related to archers and to keep score. She also painted target faces that were beautiful, looking as they had been lifted straight from the pages of illuminated books from across our period of study.

The staff for this event was small but the output was huge ....

Lady Ceridwen of Taylorwood was my reservationist and then sat gate the entire time it was open. She was assisted by Lady Beatrice Lynden and both ladies placed the signs (one of which was stolen, sorry to anyone who took a wrong turn because of that) and gathered them up again. Lady Lorelei Greenleaf ran the bow inspections and served as an invaluable touchstone for information and encouragement. Lord Christoph of Grey, though other obligations kept him from this event, and Lord Bassi inn fiskni Einarsson were also constantly available to guide this absolute non-archer through the various questions of planning for an all-archery event. Lady Aine A'Grian prepared a marvelous sideboard for lunch. Lady Brianna O'Duinn as head cook wow'd her audience with some amazing food ... chicken stuffed with cheese and prosciutto, pork that was fork tender, asparagus that was amazing, fried cheese and strawberry wontons and orange sherbet .... I'm just sayin ... Baron Talorgan, Baron Aiulf Boone and Flavia who made the fried strawberry-cheesey-sugary goodness ... just sayin ...

Elizabeth Hansler from Attilium (I have not forgotten her title ... she doesn't yet have one except baronial Chancellor of Minors and Kingdom Chancellor of Minors...just sayin...) spent the entire day running from gate to targets to dayboard to feast prep helping wherever her hands and bright energy were needed.? Lady Nuala ingen Magnusa brought three dayshades and several tables and coolers to help us beat the forecast heat and humidity. She ran one of the shoots and helped in many ways throughout the weekend. Lady Cecilia Ismerelda Santi helped with dayboard, ran a target, schlepped and ran and set up and maintained the bathhouse and then cleaned it all herself on Sunday. Baroness Gwynwylf ran a private fundraiser (we have some incredibly generous members among the archery community) and offered her chirirgonate skills as did another lady whose name I have forgotten and for which I am incredibly embarrassed but she is Lord Cian', (the archer, archery MiT and herald) lady wife.

Wolfgang, Rotschen, Lord Guntram all of Crois Brigte, Cody of Bassi's house and Stanley the wayward pagan (there's a story behind this one) all ran and set up and helped whenever it was needed.

Also, to barons Axel, Achbar and Talorgan and Lord Geffrei, special thanks for being flexible enough and willing to accommodate helping a young man authorize at this event so he can be part of Atlantia's fighting forces at Pennsic.

This list does not include the multitude of others who stepped up without hesitation throughout the course of the event to lend a hand or give up time and help a million times over in a multitude of ways to make the event keep running.

The danger of ever creating such a list is forgetting someone and I am sure that has been the case, I've forgotten to mention someone but I thought it important for people to know ... this event ran smoothly, as is often the case, because of the many hands who worked quietly behind scenes to make it do so. To anyone who served at this event and whose name I have failed to mention, my sincere apologies.

And to all who came and helped and enjoyed the day, my deepest gratitude it was a fantastic and marvelous weekend. Thank you for the opportunity to be involved.

In humility and service,

~gise
