Hello!
I'm pleased to see such wonderful efforts being formed to help our friend,
Duchess Arielle, as well as the royal travel fund. I highly encourage these
efforts and your generosity.
As Kingdom Exchequer, I've now been asked a couple times "how is the Kingdom
managing these funds?" The answer is: we aren't.
I believe each of the people who are running fund raisers for Arielle have
said the appropriate words that these are PRIVATE fund raising efforts.
(Thank you, Ladies!) What this means is that none of the funds are going
into any SCA branch bank account; they will not show up on any SCA reports;
they do not have to follow any of the SCA proscribed cash controls. What
this means for you is: no tax deduction for your donation; none of us in
official positions in the SCA can give you any accounting of what happened
to your donation.
In private fund raisers, we exchequers only become involved when and if
someone gives one of us funds that are to be deposited in an SCA account but
at that time the funds may only be used for SCA activities (like the royal
travel fund), not for an individual's benefit.
I hope that clears up any confusion.
If any of you wish to start some fundraiser to be run through SCA accounts,
PLEASE speak with one of us exchequers first, as there are specific things
you can and can't do. We're here to help you with that.
Best wishes,
Anne of Carthew
Kingdom of Atlantia Chancellor of the Exchequer
