Just wanted to give everyone a head start on the A&S for Nimenefeld's event Midnight at the Oasis Sept. 19-21. See our web page for all the details.
http://nimenefeld.windmastershill.org/mato2009/index.htm
We will be having -
1) Dress a Newcomer kit for under $30 (receipt must be included). This is where you would make an outfit and all the accessories as well as any other items like feast gear or thing a new comer just gotta have for $30. You can dress an actual new comer or just display what you have made. (the garb can be from any period.)
2) Best-Dressed Arab - Make and show off your best Middle Eastern, Persian, Western Asian, etc. garb. There are many links on the Garb links page on our website at http://nimenefeld.windmastershill.org/mato2009/garblinks.htm to help you out with this. Please sign in at the A&S Table if you would like to enter. Pictures will be taken of each entry.
3) Create a Story, Song, Play, or Poem Contest - The Story, Song, Play or Poem will be created on site by using a list of words that you can obtain from the A&S table or at troll. You must use all of the words in the list to qualify. The list of words will of course have the theme of the event, Middle Eastern. You will then be performing it in front of a panel of judges. The winner of the competition, if able, will then get a chance to perform your piece at feast or the bardic. The winner will be announced at Court.
4) Arab Artifacts - Artifacts that would have be used by people living in one of the Arab countries during our period. The item must be made with the contestant's hands. This can be, not limited to tassels, camel saddle, a dress, gloves, flower arrangements, sword, arrows, perfume, a piece of armor, etc. Documentation is not required but will be used during the judging. No food items please. The winner will be announced at Court.
On another note...
Teacher wanted - We are looking for a few people that would like to teach or do a demonstration with a Middle Eastern theme at our event. If you would like to please let me know. Some suggested classes would be Henna, turban wrapping, belly dancing, garb show and tell, etc.
So if you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I hope to see lots of interesting entries at our event.
Thanks
