Though I don't know Her Grace, having dealt with cancer in my family twice, I do like the idea of fundraising to help out. It certainly shows how the sca is more than a hobby, but also a family.
The medallions for fighters is a good idea, but let's not leave off the archers of our fine kingdom. With the kingdom archery competition rapidly approaching, perhaps something could be done there.
2 thoughts I had.

1. Have special arrows made in Her Grace's colors that could be purchased as a fund raiser.

2. Commission a special "golden arrow". Have a competition at kingdom archery where the archers purchase a token to enter, and the golden arrow is the prize.

Both of these would take more thought, and certainly more skill to undertake than I currently possess, but I would be willing to assist in the brainstorming on these or any other ideas.

Subject: [MR] Fundraising (private effort)

Hi Everybody,
As Her Majesty has mentioned there are fundraising efforts underway to help offset expenses for Duchess Arielle and Duke Valharic as they turn to alternative treatments for her cancer.  As such, she has dubbed me the ‘Fundraising Coordinator” for this private endeavor.
There are many efforts already under way.  The Rose Tournament at Sapphire Joust was very successful on many levels, Duchess Kyneburh will be casting a ribbon with a rose for us to sell and I believe that His Majesty has commissioned brass medallions that fighters can purchase and have mounted on their helms.  Her Majesty would also like to have a week long effort of private fundraising while at Pennsic.  I think the Atlantian Social on Tuesday night could be a great opportunity if we wanted to have a Silent Auction.  Duchess Simone is looking into any restrictions we might have to make sure we can do something like that.
Guidance for folks who want to sponsor a fundraiser include: the fundraiser must be tasteful, must be made clear that it is private, I would like to know about it in advance and all funds will come to me at the end of the activity.  Their Graces are aware of and have agreed to what we are attempting to do but have asked that no one contribute if it would cause themselves any hardship.
Feel free to cross post this information on other relevant lists.  People interested in sponsoring a fundraiser can contact me separately for additional information at CountessAryanna<at>yahoo<dot>com.  Thanks!
Aryanna
