guys. did anyone even read the article from the free masons I posted? Yes, five pointed stars have been around forever, and yes they were an early christian symbol. I am not opposed to all five pointed stars, you know they are on the flag... It's the pentagram that I object to, especially with the two points up. The five pointed star within a circle that is commonly associated with satan.
The star on a shield on a previous email is perfectly fine, after all, Captain America has a star on his shield. But even DC comics has received flack about that. Nestle has been boycotted for it's corporate symbol, proctor & gamble, the free masons...all serve as examples that some things can get out of hand, by the public.
All that has to happen to elchenburg castle, is for the public to petition that it's a public nuisance...and we are all out of there..even the Volkswagen club. We need to educate the locals on who we are, but we also need to be good neighbors and take into account what objections they may have, valid or not.
My first pennsic was pennsic thirteen. Back then the locals hated us. They did not trust us because were were strange. Some people even were refused service at restaurants, if they were in garb. Now they put out the welcome mat. Why, yep, time and money. They are familiar with us and we are a major positive impact on the local economy. I expect the same to happen with elchenburg. But the locals need time. We used to go out to the Sacred Stones every year and have a picnic and pickup garbage. However, when an upscale neighborhood went up beside it, we were banned after they petitioned that we were a bunch of bongo drum, bums, and declared us a nuisance. I don't think we even had a chance to defend ourselves at the county hearing....That is reality of dealing with the public.
Now that the Stones are going to be a public park, the local council woman I spoke to last year, is happy that when the park is finished, that we "adopt " the Stones and take care of them again. All it took was time.
And I really didn't mean to start a big deal on the use of the word medieval. I think we should use it. It was an example of how ignorant the public can still be. In Chapel Hill, NC. There are more PH D's per capita than most cities it's size in the USA, but...the people at the church in Chapel Hill were not. In the county I live in, there are only 2,518 people with a BA or higher, and only 12,867 with a high school education. So, I might not use medieval with them. Anyone who has ever spoken in public, knows you temper your speech to your audience.
Education...good....ignorence....bad. Tempered with patience and time, makes good history.
