According to Wikipedia, (which M'lord Disco confided is highest of quotable
sources), "The Oxford English Dictionary cites *the Globe*, 1872, as the
earliest verifiable use of *flogging a dead horse*."
So I'm afraid it isn't period. But then again, we're having this discussion
via e-mail. Give me 10 minutes and I bet e-mailing will be period according
to Wikipedia!

Achbar,
So when do we start the discussion over whether kicking dead horses is
period and if it should be allowed within the scope of the SCA for
historical or possibly PR purposes (PETA or SPCA might show up to threaten
protest)?
