And the fuss continues. What has to be realized is that if people wish to think badly of you they will find a reason. There was an occasion in the Eastern Kingdom where the RED CROSS was having their annual fundraiser at the local casino (historical building) and the local SCA group was invited to attend to provide color. Yes it was to be a Medieval costume party of a sorts. The Red Cross usually makes several hundred thousand dollars at this event. That is until a local man of the church got wind of it (advertised in the paper). He convinced his local parishioners and other churches in the area that medieval was a misspelling and the actual spelling was midevil. Between the threats on the economic livelihood of any merchant who supported the red cross and the threats of bodily harm and bags of excrement place her desk the organiser decided to drop the event. The loss of revenue, the fees due to cancellation and loss of face due to this man of the Church was tremendous though he did not seem to want to cover this evil organizations losses. He thought he was just doing his part to keep the hand of the devil out of his community. Yes supposedly this is a learned man.

Narrow view? Are you saying with 1600 plus years of history to pick from people got nothing better to do than make modern political statements? Fun vs history; now that is being narrow. History is fun that is the point of the SCA James ---------- Sent from AT&T's Wireless network using Mobile Email

It becomes easier to accept when you realize it's not about you or what
you find boorish. Roll your own way, give others the leeway to roll
their's. We don't all share the same narrow perception of how history
should be badly re-enacted.
