Good afternoon,
It is always a sobering time when faced with the helplessness of our own mortality. And even more so when it seems that someone has left us early. Many of us would have done just about anything if it would have meant more time for Arielle. But sadly there was really nothing to be done, regardless of how willing we were.
And even now my grief is accompanied by the desire to do something, anything, to help. So if you are like me and are looking for a proactive way to help, I would suggest sponsoring a fighter in the Free Scholar Charity Tourney at Pennsic. The money benefits the Susan G. Komen foundation so it is an appropriate and relevant way to memorialize Arielle. I will never forget the year that she came out to sponser the tourney wearing her bright pink roman garb, that was a really nice touch. Winning this tournament the year that my Grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer is one of my best memories from the SCA.
Atlantian Freescholars' Unscarved Charity Tournament - Tuesday 12:30 at Main Rapier List
The Atlantian Freescholars will host a tournament to benefit the Susan G Komen Foundation. A donation of $5 is required to enter, but please feel free to donate more if you
wish. Two thirds of the gross amount will be donated in the winner's name; one third in the name of the second place fighter. Other prizes will be awarded as well.
