Citizens of Atlantia:
I, Lady Yseulte Trevelyn, of Bright Hills, must convey most unsettling news: Richard the Lionhearted, King of England, leader of the most recent Crusade to the Holy Land seems to have disappeared after leaving Acre to return to his realm! Allow me to share a letter from his mother, Queen Eleanor, to the Templar Grand Master, Robert de Sable.
Eleanor, Queen of England, Duchess of Aquitaine, etc., etc.,
To the Honorable Robert de Sable, Grand Master of the Temple, at Acre,
Greetings!
We have learned by report of reliable pilgrims, that Our very dear son, Richard, King of England, Duke of Anjou and Aquitaine, departed Acre by sea a few months ago, on the feast of St. Denis, in the company of four of your brethren. We have since had no word of him, or of his party and companions.
I have heard from his sister Joanna, and Berengaria, his wife, that he had sent them ahead, having told them that he would arrive in time to keep Christmas in England. They departed Acre with Admiral Stephen de Turnham on the 29th of September, and arrived safely in Sicily. From there they sailed to Naples and then traveled overland to Rome, where they still anxiously await him.
If, therefore, you have heard from the brethren who traveled with him or in some other way have further knowledge of his journey, We entreat you most earnestly to send Us news by swift and trustworthy messengers, for which We give you thanks. Please send messengers to both London, where We currently reside, and also to Baroness Martelle von Charlottenburg, of Bright Hills, with whom We expect to visit this October to attend the annual tournament which they strangely refer to as "TTnT" and sample the famed skills of her cooks and bards.
Given on this, the feast of St. Nicholas in the year of our Lord 1192, in Our city of London.
