Greetings and apologies in advance if you are receiving this notice multiple times.

Masquerade Medieval will hold auditions for its production of "A Man for All Seasons" now scheduled for Pennsic 39 in 2010. (Due to the economy this we were forced to postpone the production scheduled for Pennsic 38.) The following rolls are consequently now open and will be auditioned for at war this year:

Archbishop Cranmer: Sharp-minded, sharp-faced. He treats the Church as a job of administration, and theology as a set of devices, for he lacks personal religiosity.

Attendant to Ambassador Chapuys: An apprentice diplomat of good family.

Duke of Norfolk: Heavy, active, a sportsman and soldier held together by rigid adherence to the minimal code of conventional duty. Attractively aware of his moral and intellectual insignificance, but also a great nobleman, untouchably convinced that his acts and ideas are important because they are his.

King Henry VIII: Not the Holbein Henry, but a much younger man, bright-eyed, graceful and athletic. The Golden Hope of the New Learning throughout Europe. Only the levity with which he handles his absolute power foreshadows his future corruption.

Thomas Cromwell: Late thirties or forties. Subtle and serious; the face expressing not inner tension but the tremendous outgoing will of the renaissance. A self-conceit that can cradle gross crimes in the name of effective action. In short, an intellectual bully. (This is one of the lead characters and has extensive lines.)

Understudies for all Men and Women: We need two to three men and women each to be understudies to all the roles in the show. The very nature of producing a show at Pennsic means that roles can and do come open last minute. Should it become necessary understudies perform script in hand. There are a couple of scenes where you will get on stage regardless.

Auditions will be at Pennsic on Thursday, August 6, 2009 starting from 1 - 3 PM in the Amphitheater. (Not the Performing Arts Pavilion) Auditions will be directly from the script, no monologues necessary. Please bring your theatrical resume. For further information please see the audition website at: http://www.dracontius.net/seasons

Note that both the Known World Players and Masquerade Medieval will be holding joint auditions on that date, time and place. Known World Players will be casting for its Pennsic 39 production of "Medea."

Yours in Service,

Lorcan - Director, A Man for All Seasons
