Sure. Norse in this instance means from the areas of Ancient Scandinavia, which encompassed Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland.

While most sources I can find say that the word Norse refers primarily to a period of anywhere from 1700BC to 1066 AD, I'd asked Mistress Rhiannon if she would mind opening the competition up to the full SCA period, because there are some fantastic fifteenth and sixteenth century illuminations from those areas, that I thought might provide more inspiration, since early period manuscripts from those areas are few and far between.

She was amenable so the definition is from the areas listed above, date ranges from way back then to our usual cut-off of 1600.

Judging will work like so:

Each item entered will be judged individually, but the entrant's total score will be the cumulative total of each of their items. The emphasis on this competition is quality over quantity. Also a reminder, please remember that for an scroll to be valid and useable for court, it must meet Atlantian conventions as regards the colors used for the award badge, and space left for heraldry on awards that convey Awards/Grants of arms. All entries will become the property of the Crown after the competition.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Sincerely yours,
Livia Zanna
