[MR] New Info: Newcomers Informal Orientation Schedule

Greetings Newcomers everywhere (and established members too!),

On Saturday, January 24th, the Barony of Highland Foorde will host an
informal newcomers orientation.

TIME:  9am to 5pm

LOCATION:  Glade Valley Church of The Brethren
2 Chapel Place
Walkersville  Maryland  21793
The church is in the Safeway shopping center.  Just past the cleaners you
turn left and the church is about 1/2 a block on the left.

COST:  None.  The church that has volunteered to host us does help out with
breakfast cereals at our local food bank.  If possible, we ask that along
with the Highland Foorde populace that you consider donating a box of cereal
for a very worthy cause.

POTLUCK LUNCH:  We will be having a potluck lunch.  If you will be bringing
anything, please make sure it has 8-10 servings.  We will be providing
plates, cups, tableware, etc...The populace of Highland Foorde will also be
providing some period dishes for newcomers to try.

GARB/GEAR SALE:  We will be having a gently used garb & gear sale to help
get newcomers started.  Anyone wishing to donate, please bring or send along
your piece/s.

 Garb 101

Garb 101 runs throughout the day and will help you create your first set of
basic SCA clothes.  Seamstresses will be on hand to help you with cutting
out patterns and sewing your first garb.  Some fabric is available or you
may bring your own.  Handouts are available on t-tunics, drawstring pants,
chemises, and braes.  We will have a short talk on garb and construction,
and then will work hands on with anyone that wants help.  For more
