Greetings, all!
As Her Grace Simone said, I am stepping up to fill her shoes as the Kingdom Event Bid Deputy this week. I'd like to thank Simone for all her hard work in getting events coordinated over her tenure as well as her recent efforts in getting me up to speed.
As a quickie update, we're actively courting any and all bids for Coronation in April. At this time we've received no bids, and the date is bearing down on us rapidly. If anyone is considering putting a bid in but is hesitating, drop me a note and we can talk about whatever is causing you pause. If you'd rather try to talk in person, I'd be thrilled to sit down and talk to any potential hosts for this or any other event. I'll be at 12th Night this weekend, or we can coordinate another time. Really, I'm here to help!
We are in need of bids for most other events this year. If your group has any interest in hosting and needs help working up the bid, just let me know -- I'm here to facilitate the process, and in part that means making it as easy as possible on local groups. In particular, June University is coming up soon and we've not seen any bids yet. It has a little more flexibility than most events in that it can be either the first or second weekend of June (we were trying to avoid graduations and SAT's which were clogging up a lot of the possible sites). It's also a low-stress, super-easy event to host!
I'd also like to direct folks to the bid requirements site: http://seneschal.atlantia.sca.org/KingdomBids/EventBidRequirements.php. The historical attendance data has been updated to the best of our ability -- thanks, Cassandra, for posting that for us. I know some folks were asking for more information, and I admit it's kinda hard to pick a site when you haven't a clue about how many folks will show up. Hopefully this will help a little :-)
Finally, if anyone has any suggestions for things we could do to encourage branches (or, soon, any group of people) to put in bids for events, I'd love to hear them. I've got a few ideas myself, but the more the better, I think.
Thanks for your time and attention, and I look forward to working with you!
