Greetings Atlantia and friends,
It is a mere 2 weeks to Atlantia's Kingdom Arts and Sciences event.
None the less, we have a few new offerings to entice you to join us.
First off is a lovely baking competition sponsored by the Kingdom
Baker, THL Debora Aurifex. Perhaps you've already read her announcement
concerning the baking competition.
"A competition for baked goods and confectionary work from anytime within
the SCA's scope. Deliciousness, periodicity, and documentation are all
encouraged, but none are technically required. Baked goods ideally should be
at the table by noon, with judging to commence in the early afternoon.
Afterward, there will be an opportunity for entrants to get together, taste
the various entries, and discuss their work. Prize to be announced."

Next on our latest additions we have two Historic Martial Arts classes
offered by Lord Edward de Clare. They are as follows:
To the point: Fundamentals of the dagger in the German
Martial Tradition
A synopsis of the class: The class is designed to demonstrate principles of
the German Martial Tradition through the use of the dagger in a hands on
manner. The class will cover attacks, defenses and counters with the
dagger. Techniques are drawn from several masters writing in the 15th and
16th centuries.
Students should have a rubber and or a wooden dagger. A piece of wooden
dowel or rattan approximately 12 14 would be a good substitute. Metal
daggers are not permitted for this
class. Additional safety gear is encouraged but is left up to the comfort
of the individual. Such additional equipment might include a fencing mask,
leather gloves (padded or not), gorget, and vambraces to name a few.
Lord Edward's second class to be offered is;
Paper Cuts: Cutting mechanics in the European Martial
A synopsis of class: We will cover how cuts are generated and delivered.
Subjects including body movement, skeletal alignment and power generation
will be covered. Material covered in the class will draw from historical
fighting manuscripts.
Participants must have at a minimum an SCA legal fencing mask, some sort
of hand protection and a wooden or steel sword simulator. Longswords are
prefered but single handed swords will work as well. Some loaners will be
available. Additional safely equipment is encouraged dependent on your
compfort level. Such additional equipment might include padded backed or
hard leather backed gloves, gorget, and leather vambraces.

As Autocrat I would suggest dressing to accommodate the weather as these
classes will be held outdoors unless it's really nasty outside.
Another late offering has come to me.
Courtly behavior and the courtesies of behavior in Court - a class for
anyone wishing to practice proper court etiquette or simply wishing to learn
the proper actions and courtesies to be done when called into Court.
Class to be given by Baron Heinrich Kreiner. Questions concerning the
class should be directed to him at lands_heinie at yahoo.com (there's an
underscore between lands and Heinie)
Good gentles all - do come and enjoy a day of Artistic accomplishments,
interesting classes and demos, Wondrous performances of music, theater and
song, Naughty poetry, Shopping for that something special, Most Excellent
food and drink and the simple pleasure of gathering with friends for a
pleasant days event. This is a day for resting weary sword arms and
relaxing for just a day.
We are honored to have Her Highness Esa with us for the day. Let us welcome
her as only Atlantia can and make her trek North a most happy and memorable
one.
