It has been pointed out that one's membership number is not in every case an indication of the length of one's tenure in the SCA.

We ought perhaps to be asking each other, "When did? you first become a member?

I met another member at my university in October of 1973 (AS VIII).? I got a membership form out of one of his copies of Pikestaff and had it in the mail with a check the next day.? It was not until EastKingdom Twelfth Night, though, that I first made it to an event.

So I date to October of 1973.
