I'm sorry this so offends you, for myself I think the whole argument is 
rather silly. I don't think anybody is trying to devalue the current 
peerages, in fact I would see it as a mark of admiration that more 
people are trying to find ways in which they can attain that goal. If 
anything I would think it is a mark of respect, but again that's just me.

As I've been telling people: this isn't my fight. I'm not involved with 
the petition in question and I personally don't "have a dog in that 
fight", I just want people to look at the system for what it is. I've 
played this game happily for over a decade and I will continue to do so. 
*shrugs*

I for one appreciate your concern and point of view, but then again you 
don't need to convince me.
