It's interesting how the history of fencing in Atlantia has progressed. With
each recognition of the pursuit, the cries increase for even more accolades
from those who participate.
Nope, it is not a joke when I say that fencing is not equal to fighting.
I've got nothing against fencing. It in no way diminishes me. But I do think
it tends to fracture the populace, since most events are split in two.
My statements have nothing to do with maintaining a "caste of untouchables".
Heck, anyone who wants to put forth the effort can do anything they please.
And there are too many fencers doing wonderful things to support the kingdom
for me to ever consider them "second class citizens". I'm pretty secure in
myself regardless of who's doing what... I just think that folks who fence
and think they should be considered on a level with the Knights is roughly
akin to folks showing up trying to play baseball in the middle of a
basketball game. Nothng wrong with either, but each has it's place.
<I know, I was thinking the same thing. Every society on earth seems to love
to maintain it's caste of "untouchables" and second class citizens among
it's ranks. I presume that is so the more insecure members of that society
will have someone to feel superior to.
