Peerage has power. To deny a group of people it because the activity
they do doesn't fit with the current peerages is incorrect.
I think you've hit the heavy fighter on the head with this comment.?I agree.?It is exactly a question about "power" and little else.? Psychologically,?individuals in power are not willing to share that power, because it makes them less powerful.??It is not a matter of worthiness, it is a matter of "its mine and you can't have any...because I said so."?
What are you?afraid?of???There are deserving individuals?being left out when it comes to the highest recognition, because they choose to enrich the SCA experience in a less traditional form.?They are just as skilled in their art form, they spend just as much time, money and dedication to learn their discipline yet are not eligible for the same rewards.?The doors are closed to them. Just because something isn't fair, doesn't mean we can't endeavor to make it more so.?The addition of another peerage to include other combat forms, Archery, Siege, Rapier, etc would only?enhance the?SCA dream and make it fun for more people.
?One of the universal truths is, that which does not change and grow, becomes stagnant. Just because it "hasn't been done that way in the past" doesn't mean it shouldn't be.? Grow, change, learn, adapt, otherwise stagnate.
After reading some of the comments on this list about "worthiness", I think one or two of you have been hit in the head one too many times.? Developing your non-combat sensibilities would be a worthwhile effort.

Like it or not...there are those who say that one must be a Peer to be a leader.
Consider the recent unpleantness....is it a Pan-populace petition?
No, it is a Pan-Peerage petition, with a "Oh, you're not a peer, fill
out this form and the BoD might care" option only put in by apparent
insistence by our Crowns (thank you for that btw).
Consider the current BoD...all members are Peers. Looking at the list
of nominees...the vast majority...Peers.
Peerage has power. To deny a group of people it because the activity
they do doesn't fit with the current peerages is incorrect. Likewise,
to attempt to redefine one of the existing Peerages to encompass the
new activity is also incorrect.
