I have done the same thing for many years (unfortunately, I'm new to Atlantia so no Atlantians in my army yet) -- many of my SCA friends are painted 1" soldiers in my army, commanding wargame units.

For a couple of years now I have cast and painted several lead medieval soldiers. They all pretty much bare a strong resemblence to one heavy fighter or another. Livery and heraldry, oh the diorama I could build.

None are exact but there are more than a few you would recognize.
