hmmm, funny, the same thing I have been fighting outside the SCA which has caused me to be gone for a while is still the silly game going on 'in it'.

The Only ones who fight the promoting of others are those who feel if others advance it lessens them and the position they hold = better to keep a strangle hold on things and keep others down to keep them looked on as the few and the special.

Isn't it time people grew up?

I have been involved with many Marital Arts forms, gone to Many Tourneys, have Won Trophies, the Common Denominator is they all Respect each other, I have done my time as Heavy and as Rapier = Both require Training, Discipline and much Practice and Control = Both are Equal in many ways and also Require an Authorization to perform at events By Society Law.

How many "issues" have we had with the "Might Makes Right" BS of the past shown in Kingdom of the "I can swing this stick better than you I'm the S@&% and you will listen to me",  Instead of the Might Does Right that we are Supposed to be?, you have no idea how much I wanted to laugh in the face of some of those and tell them take off the armor, hell you can even keep the stick I'll go barehanded you drunken idiot, but I believed "in the group" and tried to Follow what we were supposed to be doing.

The issue is it's the old dogs not wanting to change or "Allow" others to be "Their" level, and I'll say this again: time to grow up, I hope when I finish what is going on and I return I see grownups who have embraced the Society and what we are supposed to represent.
