The Echo Early Music Festival 2009 continues this weekend, 2/6-2/8, in
the second week of five,
with Muses' Delight. Gesa Kordes-baroque violin, Gail Ann Schroeder-viola
da gamba, and
Barbara Weiss-harsichord, will be performing Friday night in Asheville at
the Cathedral of All Souls in
Biltmore Village. Saturday night they will be at the Tryon Fine Arts
Center, and Sunday afternoon they
will be at St. Alban's Episcopal in Davidson. Evening concerts are at 7:30,
and Sunday afternoon is
at 3:00.
The Muses conitinue the Festival's month of wonderful concerts,
workshops, and even an
English Country Dance (with music played on period instruments) for Carnival
Monday, February 23.
Just announced is an additional presentation: A History of the Bowed Strings
with Gerald Trimble, a
demonstration of historical and exotic string instruments that led to
today's violin family. That event
will be held Monday, February 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the choir room on the
lower level of the Moore Auditorium
building on the campus of Mars Hill College (www.mhc.edu). Admission is
free.
