Quoth Triton from _An Heraldic Alphabet_ by J.P. Brooke-Little:
> "Crescent - A half-moon with the horns pointing upwards. If the horns
> point to the dexter it is an 'increscent', if to the sinister, a
> 'decrescent, and if to the base, 'a crescent reversed'."

In SCA blazonry, and in some others as well, the term "crescent pendant"
is used in addition to (perhaps in preference to) "crescent reversed";
neither term appears to mean anything else where it is used.

> Now, if the crescents looked like "C"s, they'd be called decrescents.

We used to sing "C is for Conrad, that's good enough for me..." since
Conrad von Regensburg (first Crescent Principal Herald of Caid, and a
former baronial herald of Storvik) has a decrescent on his arms.

Evan, who may be showing his age
