Salve Anne!

Your best bet is to braid your hair and wrap it around your head, with
ribbons if you want to be fancy. A good example is seen here:
http://www.godecookery.com/tacuin/tacuin34.htm (There are several of these
manuscripts in various places, but they were all produced in Italy in the
late 14th century.) You can use false braids if your own hair isn't long
enough - and the use of false braids is period. :-) You can get them at
Sally Beauty Supply, in a wide range of colors. They have synthetic hair and
human hair pieces, but the human hair ones are more expensive.

If you don't want to fool with fake hair, you can always wear a veil:
http://www.godecookery.com/tacuin/tacuin25.htm But fashionable noblewomen
in Italy did not generally cover their hair the way northern European women
did.

Hope that helps!
